Cobimetinib Brand Name– Cotellic

What is Cobimetinib

Cobimetinib fumarate is a selective mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK) inhibitor. It is indicated in combination with vemurafenib for the treatment of unresectable or metastatic melanoma in patients with a BRAF V600E or V600K mutation.

At a median follow-up of 7.3 months (range, 0.5 to 16.5 months), the median investigator-assessed progression-free survival time was significantly improved with cobimetinib plus vemurafenib compared with placebo plus vemurafenib (9.9 months vs. 6.2 months; hazard ratio = 0.51; 95% CI, 0.39 to 0.68) in patients with previously untreated unresectable locally advanced or metastatic BRAF V600 mutation–positive melanoma in a multinational, randomized, double-blind, phase III trial (n = 495; the CoBRIM trial).

Cobimetinib (Cotellic) received priority review from the FDA in November 2015.
