Abemaciclib

Abemaciclib Brand Name – VERZENIO

What is Abemaciclib

Abemaciclib is an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4 and CDK6).

It is approved in combination with fulvestrant for the treatment of women with HR-positive, HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer with disease progression following endocrine therapy.

Additionally, it is approved as monotherapy for women and men with HR-positive, HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer with disease progression following endocrine therapy and prior chemotherapy in the metastatic setting.

Diarrhea is the most common adverse reaction; instruct patients to begin antidiarrheal therapy at the first sign of loose stools. Neutropenia, hepatotoxicity, and thromboembolism may also occur.
