What is Stavudine d4T
Stavudine d4T is an oral antiretroviral nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). It is a synthetic thymidine nucleoside analog used in combination with other agents to treat HIV-infected patients.
Stavudine is indicated as part of combination therapy for the treatment of HIV infection; it is not recommended to be given as monotherapy.
Concurrent administration of stavudine and didanosine is contraindicated due to the potential for toxicity; concurrent treatment with zidovudine should also be avoided because of the potential for virologic antagonism.
