Sarecycline

What is Sarecycline

Sarecycline is a tetracycline-class antibiotic indicated for the treatment of inflammatory lesions of non-nodular moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 9 years of age and older.

The efficacy of sarecycline was established in 2 clinical trials in patients with acne. At 12 weeks, a significantly higher proportion of sarecycline-treated patients had improved acne and a reduction in inflammatory acne lesions compared with placebo.

As with other tetracyclines, sarecycline should not be used in pediatric patients younger than 8 years due to the potential for permanent tooth discoloration and decay if used during tooth development.
