Quazepam

What is Quazepam

Quazepam is a long-acting oral benzodiazepine used for the short-term treatment of insomnia.

It has been shown to be effective in both sleep laboratory studies and larger clinical trials.

The clinical data collected from sleep laboratory studies support the subjective effects reported by patients, which indicate increased quality as well as quantity of sleep.

Overall, quazepam increases total sleep time. It has been shown to be very well tolerated.

Daytime drowsiness has been the most commonly reported adverse effect, which is usually mild and is generally limited to the first few days of therapy, and unlike the shorter acting agents such as triazolam and temazepam, is rarely associated with rebound insomnia.

Quazepam was approved by the FDA for the short-term treatment of insomnia in 1985.
