Duloxetine, pregabalin, and the opioid tapentadol are FDA approved for painful DPN. Pregabalin is FDA approved for neuropathic pain associated with SCI. Carbamazepine is FDA approved for trigeminal neuralgia. Many other medications such as TCAs are not FDA approved but are commonly suggested in guidelines and used in clinical practice.
