What is Clorazepate

Clorazepate dipotassium is an oral benzodiazepine with a moderately rapid onset of action and a long half-life.

Clorazepate is used for the management of acute alcohol withdrawal, anxiety, and as an adjunct in the management of partial seizures.

Clorazepate is essentially a prodrug for desmethyldiazepam, the primary active metabolite of diazepam.

Clorazepate was approved by the FDA in 1972.
