What is the treatment of typhlitis?
Resolution of typhlitis corresponds to the adequate return of functioning neutrophils. Supportive treatment includes bowel rest, total parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, and aggressive fluid and electrolyte replacement. Surgery is reserved for patients with uncontrolled gastrointestinal bleeding or sepsis, bowel obstruction, abscess formation, transmural necrosis, or bowel perforation.
