Role of dietary protein restriction in Membranous Nephropathy
Is there a role for dietary protein restriction in Membranous Nephropathy?
Restricting dietary protein has been shown to reduce proteinuria in a variety of proteinuric kidney diseases including Membranous Nephropathy.
Thus restricting dietary protein intake to 0.8 g/kg of ideal body weight per day of high-quality protein may be attempted in patients with refractory proteinuria.
However, long-term studies with clinical end points are lacking that compare protein restriction to control diet.
