  • Noninflammatory diarrhea is generally caused by infection with noninvasive pathogens that generate toxins or use other means to promote a secretory process.
  • Causative agents include Vibrio cholerae, enterotoxigenic E. coli, staphylococcal and clostridial toxins, viruses, protozoa, Cryptosporidium, and Giardia .
