nerve entrapment syndromes that can occur around the shoulder
A paralabral cyst can extend into the suprascapular notch or the spinoglenoid notch and result in suprascapular nerve impingement syndrome. Both the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles are affected at the level of the suprascapular notch, whereas only the infraspinatus muscle is affected at the spinoglenoid notch.
Another common impingement syndrome occurs with the axillary nerve in the quadrilateral space. Usually fibrous tissue compresses the axillary nerve, resulting in neuropathic changes in the teres minor and deltoid muscles.
