Mediastinal lipomatosis

Mediastinal lipomatosis is due to excessive unencapsulated fat deposition within the mediastinum.

It is commonly associated with obesity and chronic exogenous corticosteroid administration and appears as widening of the mediastinum on radiography and as an increase in mediastinal fat on CT or MRI.
