What are the major types of GI tract malignancies?
Adenocarcinoma is the most common gastric malignancy, carcinoid tumor is the most common small bowel malignancy, and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the most common mesenchymal tumor of the GI tract. Gastric adenocarcinoma is overall the second most common cause of cancer death worldwide (where lung cancer is the most common cause).
