How soon after a precipitating event such as trauma will a patient develop Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?
CRPS usually begins days to 4 to 6 weeks after the inciting event. In approximately 80% of cases, it occurs within 3 months of a traumatic episode. Note that 5% to 7% of patients will develop CRPS in the contralateral (nontraumatized) limb during the course of their disease.
