Difference between multifocal and multicentric breast cancer

What is the difference between multifocal and multicentric breast cancer?

Multifocal breast cancer indicates the presence of 2 or more foci of breast cancer in the same breast quadrant, while multicentric breast cancer indicates the presence of 2 or more foci in different quadrants of the breast. Usually patients with multicentric cancer are not eligible for breast conservation therapy given that the tumors are in separate quadrants.
