What is a Cowper duct syringocele, and what are its cross-sectional imaging features?
A Cowper duct syringocele is a cystic dilation of the duct of the Cowper (bulbourethral) gland and is usually encountered in the pediatric age group.
On cross-sectional imaging, a unilocular or multilocular cystic lesion is seen adjacent to the proximal bulbar urethra and urogenital diaphragm. Associated mass effect upon the bulbar urethra and upstream urethral dilation may sometimes also be seen.
