What is the double duct sign in radiology?
The “double duct” sign refers to simultaneous upstream dilation of the biliary tree and main pancreatic duct. This sign is highly suggestive of presence of pancreatic head adenocarcinoma, although other less common etiologies such as an ampulla of Vater carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma of the distal common bile duct, focal chronic pancreatitis in the pancreatic head, or ampullary stenosis may also lead to this imaging appearance.
