What is Succimer
Succimer is an oral chelating agent used to treat lead toxicity. Succimer works by forming water-soluble chelates with lead, which are excreted in the urine.
Succimer may have efficacy for lead encephalopathy and for other heavy metal poisoning such as mercury or arsenic poisoning; data are limited. Succimer was approved by the FDA in January 1991.
