What is Sodium picosulfate Magnesium oxide Anhydrous citric acid

Sodium picosulfate magnesium oxide anhydrous citric acid is a combination of a stimulant and osmotic laxative used for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy.

The preparation consists of 2 doses taken at separate times; additional fluid intake is necessary for appropriate bowel cleansing and in order to reduce the risk of fluid and electrolyte imbalance.

In clinical evaluation, the most common side effects reported included nausea, headache, and vomiting. Prepopik is approved for use in adults and pediatric patients 9 years of age and older; clenpiq is only approved for use in adults.
