What is Nizatidine

Nizatidine is an oral H2-receptor antagonist. Nizatidine is indicated for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), short-term and maintenance treatment of duodenal ulcer, and short-term treatment of active benign gastric ulcer.

A non-prescription (OTC) product is also available for self-treatment of pyrosis (heart burn), dyspepsia, and sour stomach. Of note, for the symptomatic acute and chronic treatment of GERD, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are considered to be more effective than H2-blockers.
