What is Fibrin Sealant Human

Fibrin sealant human is a human plasma-derived, fibrinogen and thrombin sealant developed to promote the adherence of autologous skin grafts to burn wounds, for hemostasis of surgical bleeding when control of bleeding by standard surgical techniques is ineffective or impractical, and for colonic anastomoses leakage prophylaxis after temporary colostomy reversal. Fibrin sealant is for topical use only.

Intravascular administration of fibrin sealant is contraindicated; life-threatening thromboembolic events may occur and the likelihood and severity of acute hypersensitivity reactions may increase in susceptible patients.

Fibrin sealant human was FDA-approved in 1998.
