Brilliant Blue G Brand Name– TissueBlue
What is Brilliant Blue G
Brilliant Blue G is an intravitreally administered dye used during ophthalmic procedures to visualize the internal limiting membrane (ILM). When administered into the vitreous cavity, the dye selectively stains the ILM, but not the epiretinal membrane nor the retina.
This selectivity in staining allows for easier visualization and removal of the ILM. Adverse reactions reported in procedures in which brilliant blue G has been used are often associated with the procedure itself, and include retinal events (break, tear, detachment, hemorrhage) and cataracts.
