What is Benzoyl Peroxide Sulfur
Benzoyl peroxide sulfur is a topical treatment for acne. Benzoyl peroxide exhibits antibacterial activity and has drying actions, sebostatic effects, and causes mild skin desquamation.
Benzoyl peroxide improves both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions. Sulfur has keratolytic, antifungal, and antiparasitic activity.
Benzoyl peroxide and sulfur were originally marketed for use before 1962, which is when Congress passed the amended Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act requiring that the FDA establish both safety and efficacy for all subsequently approved drugs.
Benzoyl peroxide sulfur has not been formally evaluated by the FDA.
