What tumors commonly spread to the intraperitoneal space?
Ovarian cancer is the most common type of tumor that spreads to the peritoneal space in women. In men, cancers of the colon, pancreas, and stomach are the primary tumors that most frequently spread to the intraperitoneal space. Hepatocellular carcinomas spread to the peritoneal space, but they are less common in the United States compared with Asia or Africa.
