What is the most common tumor arising in the submucosa of the colon?
Lipomas are the most common submucosal tumors arising in the colon. Internal hemorrhoids are the most common lesions arising in the submucosa. Lipomas are most commonly found in the right colon as sessile or broadly pedunculated, smooth-surfaced polyps or masses. These tumors change size and shape with palpation and varying degrees of colonic distention.
