What is vestibular migraine (migrainous vertigo)?

Vestibular migraine has a lifetime prevalence of 1% in the general population.

The vertigo can occur with (in 50%) or without a headache and can have a variable duration ranging from seconds (approximately 10%) to minutes (30%) to hours (30%) to several days (30%).

Patients may describe lightheadedness, spinning, or a sensation of the environment spinning.

For some patients, it may take weeks to recover fully from an attack.

The attacks may occur days, months, or even years apart in an irregular fashion.
