What disorders cause diffuse bronchiectasis?
Although various disorders may result in bronchiectasis, only a few diseases cause widespread bronchiectasis that involves most of the lung parenchyma. The most common of these is cystic fibrosis. Other diseases include primary cilia dyskinesia; allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis; and various immunodeficiency states, such as common variable immunodeficiency syndrome, natural killer cell deficiency, and hyper-IgE syndrome.
