Spondylosis
Spondylosis refers to degenerative disease (e.g., osteoarthritis) of the intervertebral disc and/or the apophyseal (facet) joints.
The natural, lordotic curves of the spinal column where maximum range of motion occurs at the C5 to C7 and L3 to L5 level predispose these segments to accelerated degenerative changes.
Spondylosis is the most common cause of neck and low back pain in patients aged over 40 years.
