Serious causes of acute neck pain
- Cervical trauma resulting in either fracture or subluxation
- Cervical disc herniation resulting in myelopathic signs and symptoms
- Acute neck pain associated with fever
- Neck pain in a cancer patient associated with weakness, new-onset radicular numbness and/or pain or presence of a sensory level
