Risk factors for developing breast cancer

What are some risk factors for developing breast cancer?

Perhaps the greatest risk factor is being a female. Men get breast cancer, but male breast cancer accounts for less than 1% of all breast cancers diagnosed annually. Other risk factors include presence of a genetic mutation ( BRCA1 and BRCA2 ) carrier status, prior mantle field radiation, having a first-degree relative with breast cancer, personal history of breast cancer, history of breast atypia such as atypical ductal hyperplasia and lobular carcinoma in situ on biopsy, early menarche, late menopause, nulliparous status, late first-term pregnancy (>30 years old), and advancing age.
