Type 1 membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis is the most common histologic pattern (80% of cases).
Frank nephrotic or nephritic syndrome can occur, but patients typically present with less substantial microscopic hematuria or proteinuria.
Hypertension and elevated creatinine are common, and renal failure may be mild or severe at presentation.
