Is there a relationship between amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia?
There is considerable phenotypic overlap, and many of the mutations associated with familial frontotemporal dementia also cause familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, especially the C9ORF72 mutation.
