Prevalence of acute kidney injury
Acute kidney injury can occur in all hospitalized patients but is especially prevalent in:
• Patients over age 65
• Patients with infections
• Underlying cardiovascular disease
• Hepatic cirrhosis
• Respiratory distress
• Chronic HF
• Hematologic neoplasia
• Intensive care unit (ICU) patients (mainly due to sepsis, major surgery, hypovolemic status with low cardiac output, HF).
