What is the preparation for enteroclysis?
Residual fluid and feces should be removed from the small bowel and right colon. The patient should not eat after 9 PM. Bisacodyl tablets are given with water at 10 PM the night before the examination to stimulate the right colon to contract. The patient does not drink fluids after midnight. Insulin-dependent diabetic patients do not take their morning dose of insulin. Other hospitals request that a full barium enema preparation be administered.
