What is the most common cancer of the heart and pericardium?
Metastatic disease is the most common malignancy of the heart and pericardium. Lung cancer, lymphoma, breast cancer, and melanoma all can involve the heart or pericardium. Lung cancer is the most common primary tumor of patients with cardiac metastases; however, melanoma is the most likely tumor to spread to the heart. Primary tumors of the heart are rare, and primary malignant tumors of the heart are exceedingly rare.
