Lab tests for Takayasu Arteritis

Lab tests for Takayasu Arteritis

Are there any specific laboratory tests useful for the diagnosis of TA?

No. Nonspecific laboratory studies indicate active inflammation such as anemia of chronic disease, thrombocytosis, and an elevated ESR and CRP. The ESR does not always follow the degree of active, ongoing inflammation and may be normal in 33% to 50% of patients with active disease by arterial biopsy.
