Is a filling defect in the collecting system diagnostic of UC?
No. Other pathologic conditions that can cause a filling defect are nonopaque stones, blood clots, fungus balls in patients with a fungal urinary tract infection (UTI), and subepithelial cysts associated with chronic infection or inflammation in a condition known as ureteritis cystica.
