Does Membranous Nephropathy recur after kidney transplantation?
Membranous Nephropathy can recur after kidney transplantation in close to 50% of the patients and can result in proteinuria, allograft dysfunction, and graft loss.
Patients with positive anti-PLA2R antibodies prior to kidney transplantation who continue to have persistently positive titers despite standard immunosuppression post transplant are at increased risk of clinically relevant recurrent Membranous Nephropathy and should be considered for treatment with rituximab post transplantation.
