What are the CT and MRI features of peritonitis?

Peritoneal thickening and peritoneal enhancement are typically seen, often with presence of associated ascites. Findings of cirrhosis or portal hypertension may be seen in patients with primary bacterial peritonitis, whereas findings of other abdominopelvic pathology involving the gastrointestinal or genitourinary tract may be seen in patients with secondary bacterial peritonitis.
