Basis for the arterial circulation to the inner ear

What is the basis for the arterial circulation to the inner ear?

The arterial supply to the entire inner ear—the cochlea and vestibular labyrinth—derives from the internal auditory artery, a branch of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery.

The internal auditory artery forms two branches:

(1) the anterior vestibular artery, which supplies the anterior semicircular canal, the horizontal semicircular canal, and the utricle, and

(2) the internal auditory artery, which forms the common cochlear artery.

The common cochlear artery divides into

(1) the vestibulo-cochlear artery to supply the posterior semicircular canal and saccule as well as the basal turn of the cochlea, and

(2) the main cochlear artery, which supplies the rest of the cochlea.
