What is Oxycodone Naloxone
Oxycodone naloxone is a semisynthetic opioid agonist (oxycodone) combined with a semisynthetic opioid-receptor antagonist (naloxone) for severe pain requiring daily, around-the-clock, long term opioid treatment for which alternative treatment options are inadequate.
Oxycodone naloxone is designed to deter abuse of oxycodone by snorting or injecting. When crushed and snorted or dissolved and injected, the naloxone in oxycodone; naloxone blocks the euphoric effects of oxycodone.
Oxycodone naloxone was FDA-approved in July 2014.
