Fosinopril Hydrochlorothiazide

Fosinopril Hydrochlorothiazide Brand Name– Monopril HCT

What is Fosinopril Hydrochlorothiazide

Fosinopril and hydrochlorothiazide are used together in an oral formulation for the treatment of hypertension.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a commonly used thiazide diuretic. Fosinopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor.

Fosinopril can counteract the hypokalemia caused by hydrochlorothiazide. Although black hypertensive patients (a low-renin hypertensive population) usually have a smaller than average response to fosinopril monotherapy than non-black patients, combination therapy with fosinopril plus hydrochlorothiazide is similarly effective in black and non-black patients.

Monopril® HCT was first approved by the FDA on November 30, 1994.

The product was first marketed in the US by the manufacturer in May 2000.
