Who are at risk for Giant Cell Arteritis
Giant Cell Arteritis incidence increases with age, with GCA being almost 10 times more common among patients in their 80s than among patients aged 50 to 60 years. GCA only affects patients aged >50 years.
GCA is two to three times more common among women than among men and is most commonly reported in whites of Northern European descent. Overall GCA is the most common systemic vasculitis, with a lifetime risk of up to 0.5% to 1% in the United States.
