Polyarticular arthralgias are seen in the majority of patients during the course of the disease. Patients may describe profound joint pain, but inflammatory features are lacking on examination. A nonerosive arthritis is much less commonly encountered. Immune complex deposition is thought to be the cause of joint symptoms.
