Staging workup for RCC

What is the staging workup for RCC?

Guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) suggest that the initial workup for RCC should include a complete history and physical, comprehensive laboratories (including a low-density lipoprotein [LDH] and urinalysis), and abdominal/pelvic computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

If clinically indicated, an MRI of the brain and bone scan should be ordered. If urothelial carcinoma is suspected, urine cytology or ureteroscopy should be considered.
