Should dialysis be used for the treatment of hepatorenal syndrome?

Intermittent hemodialysis has been used as a short-term bridge to liver transplantation. However, there is no evidence that it increases long-term survival without transplantation.

It is not recommended unless there is a reversible component to the liver disease or the patient is listed for liver transplant.
