What is the role of cross sectional imaging in patients with penile cancer?
US and MRI are most often used to evaluate the characteristics and spatial extent of the primary tumor mass (T stage), whereas CT and MRI are most often used to assess for presence of regional lymphadenopathy (N stage) and distant metastatic disease (M stage) as well as for response assessment following therapeutic intervention. Presence of regional lymphadenopathy or distant metastatic disease portends a worse clinical outcome.
