Primary parameters used to characterize subsets of uveitis
- 1. Anatomic location of inflammation: anterior, intermediate, posterior, or panuveitis.
- 2. Laterality: unilateral (can be asynchronous) or bilateral (occurring in both eyes simultaneously).
- 3. Onset: sudden or insidious.
- 4. Duration: limited (≤3 months) or persistent (>3 months).
- 5. Course: acute (sudden onset and limited duration), chronic (persistent disease with relapse within 3 months of discontinuation of therapy), recurrent (repeat episodes separated by ≥3 months).
