Preferred imaging modality for evaluation of bowel ischemia

What is the preferred imaging modality for evaluation of bowel ischemia?

CT with negative oral contrast material is the preferred imaging modality to evaluate the presence and distribution of bowel ischemia as well as potential underlying causes. Conventional angiography is useful in the diagnosis and treatment of occlusive vascular disease but is insensitive for the diagnosis of nonocclusive mesenteric ischemia.
