MRI findings of patellar tendinitis
Patellar tendinitis, also known as jumper’s knee, is an overuse syndrome usually seen in young athletes who participate in activities requiring jumping such as basketball or volleyball. In contrast, quadriceps tendon injury is more commonly seen in older populations. The intrasubstance degeneration of the tendon is seen as thickening and increased signal intensity on all pulse sequences. This diagnosis can be easily recognized on sagittal MR images.
